I shared that many of my baby photos show me in a carrycot on a building site, as my parents and Grandparents were building attached bungalows. During my life I have experienced lots more building work, but that was organised and overseen by my architect husband. Demolition, building and the dirt involved didn’t faze me but but seeking out and appointing builders on my own was a daunting experience. After much stalling, one of my daughters stepped in and and canvassed her friends. Hence I received a recommendation from Australia to consider S & H Construction! From day one of meeting Nathan, I felt extremely comfortable and followed through with his recommendation to go to Howdens Exeter for the kitchen design. I also approached other companies to get comparisons for the whole works. The variation in quotes wasn’t huge but the approach and the attention to my vision was. So, I was delighted to proceed with S & H Construction and Howdens. Day one: I was expecting the builders at 8:00. 7:45 Paul and his coffee arrived, keen to be first on site as he informed me the plumber and electrician would be arriving soon. It was like a scene from DIY SOS as gas and electrics were disconnected and by 8:30 my kitchen was gutted! It was quite clear that they were extremely experienced at working together as a team, as I was to witness over the following 5 weeks. If I have any words of warning, it’s to trust their leadership, as they work to a masterplan. Trades will come and go appearing to leave partway through tasks, they are actually working at the necessary stage to allow other trades to proceed. Before you know it, your new kitchen is emerging and then finished. Throughout the project every single trade has treated me with courtesy and sought my input if something needed clarification. Thank you Mike Cleal, Charlie, Dave Lee, Lewis LV Electrical, Beni Cramer, and Mike Gillard, plus your apprentices. You are an amazing team. Thank you Nathan and Paul. The whole process has been a pleasure and I am delighted with the finished result.
